Every day thousands of people are involved in tackling the crime challenges in this area. They do a tremendous job and our role on the Criminal Justice Board is to ensure that they are able to provide the best and most effective service to our local communities.
Our task is to harness the collective resources, expertise and energies of our organisations to bring more offenders to justice, to support victims of crime and witnesses.... and to provide rehabilitation services which persuade people to turn away from a criminal lifestyle.
Closer co-ordination and co-operation between the different parts of the system is already delivering benefits - for example, in greatly reducing the number of delayed trials, increasing the speed with which persistent offenders are handled and introducing new facilities and services for victims and witnesses.
Of course, in order to continue delivering the improvements and changes we all want to see, we need the support and involvement of local people. That is why it is vital that we make sure you know about the changes which are taking place in every aspect of the way we deliver the criminal justice service in the area - and why we need to know both your views on the changes and your priorities for further improvement.
We hope that you find this website useful and informative and, if you have any comments of suggestions, you will let us know. We really do want to listen - and we will take notice.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the CCJB Support Team on the Contact Us details provided on the left hand side of the webpage.
