The Youth Offending Teams
These bring together police, probation officers, social workers and professional staff from education and health services.
They tackle the complex issues linked to youth crime and ensure that every young person accused of breaking the law has the matter resolved quickly, with punishment proportionate to the seriousness and persistence of offending.
Young offenders are also shown the consequences of their crimes and are helped to develop a sense of personal responsibility.
The YOT also tackles personal, family, social, health or educational issues, to enable success through rehabilitation. Wiltshire has 2 YOTs, Swindon YOT and Wiltshire YOT.
