The criminal justice system consists of a complex system of agencies working together to deliver justice in England and Wales. This website gives an overview of what's happening in the West Midlands and shows how all the different criminal justice agencies are working together to transform the way the criminal justice system works.

What is the West Midlands Criminal Justice Board?
The West Midlands Criminal Justice Board was established in April 2003 and is one of 42 Local Criminal Justice Boards around the country which were created to transform the way the criminal justice system works. Its main aim is to improve co-operation between all the criminal justice agencies on a regional basis and deliver a more joined-up approach to criminal justice.
The Board is made up of chief officers and senior representatives of the criminal justice agencies in the West Midlands including:
- West Midlands Police.
- Crown Prosecution Service (West Midlands).
- Probation West Midlands.
- Her Majesty’s Prison Service (West Midlands).
- Her Majesty’s Courts Service (West Midlands).
- West Midlands Youth Offending Teams.
Associate Members:
- Birmingham Community Safety Partnership.
- Legal Services Commission.
- Victim Support West Midlands.
The present Chair of the Board is David Blundell, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service West Midlands.
