Face The Youth 2008
2nd December
Roundhay High School
Organised by the Safer Leeds, the Leeds Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP), pupils from Rounhay School were the focus of this years the ‘face the people’ session. CDRP's are required by law to hold at least one ‘face the people’ session each year, which senior members from all responsible authorities must attend. The aim of the sessions is to seek views from the community on levels of crime and disorder. CDRPs need to ensure that the interests of a wide range of groups are represented.
At the event the partnership aimed to obtain the views of young people between the ages of 11 – 17 on issues of concern to them relating to crime and disorder. The issues identified will help to shape the activities in the CDRP plan for 2009/10. Approx 500 young people were consulted on the day, over 5 sessions. Pupils were also given the opportunity to ask question the panel members, and to take part in a number of interactive sessions.
The LCJB took part in the event offering leaflets and information to pupils along with some freebies which proved very popular. Pupils were also offered a sneek preview of the eductational DVD "Doing The Right Thing" which is to be rolled out accross West Yorkshire in February 2009.
