Local Crime, Community Sentence (LCCS)

Would your Community Group like to have an interesting presentation on Crime and Punishment issues at one of its meetings?

Bookings being taken now for the coming year...Please read on!

What is the Local Crime Community Sentence project?

It’s a joint venture by magistrates and probation officers to try to increase the knowledge of the public about community sentences. A magistrate and a probation officer together give a presentation to all types of community groups. The project’s been running successfully in Warwickshire for over 2 years and we have delivered presentations to a range of community groups all over Warwickshire. You may have heard of the project already.

What is a community sentence?

It is what happens to an offender who the Courts convict of a crime but decide not to send to Prison. Sometimes people think if somebody isn’t sent to Prison they have “walked free” or been “let off”. In fact there are many other sentences available to Courts than prison.

How long does the presentation last?

It takes about an hour to an hour and a half and can be delivered during the day or the evening according to when your group meets. We bring everything we need to do the presentation with us. Best of all, the presentation is absolutely free of charge!
