The Justice Awards

The Justice Awards were established by Baroness Scotland, Minister of State, the Home Office, (now Attorney General) in 2004.
The awards have become a highly regarded national scheme which promotes excellence and best practice.
Any team or individual working or volunteering in the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales can be nominated. This includes:
- Police
- National Offender Management Service (including prisons and probation)
- Her Majesty's Courts Service (including Magistrates' and Crown Court)
- Crown Prosecution Service
- Youth Justice System
- Criminal Defence Service (including the Public Defender Service)
Nominations are also open to staff or teams from any voluntary organisation that works with adult or young people who are victims, witnesses, defendants or offenders.
Sussex Criminal Justice Board was thrilled that one of its own units, the Witness Care Team at Brighton Trials Unit, made it to the semi-finals and attended the 2007 awards event in London. The unit were runners-up in the Team Awards, in recognition of the magnificent efforts the team has made in improving the experience of witnesses attending court.
