Inside Justice Week

Surrey Criminal Justice Board joins 96.4 Eagle

Surrey Criminal Justice Board hits the airwaves for Inside Justice Week this year. We will be joining 96.4 Eagle between Monday October 20th and Friday October 24th to highlight the work we are carrying out to ensure justice is done and meet the needs of victims and witnesses.

During the course of the week listeners to 96.4 Eagle will get the opportunity to gain a brief insight in to the world of the Criminal Justice System. There will be interviews with a Governor of a Surrey Prison,  a District Prosecutor and a Senior Offender Manager who will be able to provide information on how we work in partnership to deliver an efficient and effective service to the communities we serve.

To listen, tune into  96.4 Eagle on weekdays from 20th October until 24th October 2008.

Surrey Criminal Justice Board shows how justice is done

Students in Surrey got  the chance to get a unique glimpse behind the Criminal Justice System at last year's Inside Justice Week in November 2007 .

The week kicked off with a mock trial event  held at Godalming College, Godalming and saw some students getting the chance to try their hand at practising the law. Students participated alongside professionals and the roles of defence and prosecution counsel were taken by 2nd year law students. The audience comprised of students from other faculties and they were invited to comment on sentencing decisions. The jury was made up of law students.

The event was an ideal opportunity for those who may never come into contact with the justice system to find out more about volunteering, careers or even what factors are involved should they be a victim or witness of crime. Inside Justice Week is a great time to ask questions and to find out more about the CJS.
