Aims & Objectives
The Suffolk Criminal Justice Board (SCJB) shares the government’s vision for a more efficient and effective Criminal Justice System (CJS) that engages the public, inspires confidence and puts the needs of victims at its heart, building on the first-rate culture of partnership working that already exists in Suffolk.
Our vision has four key priorities:
1. TO BE EFFECTIVE AT BRINGING OFFENCES TO JUSTICE
We will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Criminal Justice System in bringing offences to justice, especially serious offences, and the enforcement of the orders of the court.
2. ENGAGE THE PUBLIC AND INSPIRE CONFIEDENCE
We will improve public confidence in the fairness and effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System and we will also identify and address unfair race disproportionality by working closely with CJS staff, with the community and with the five Community Safety Partnerships.
3. TO PUT THE NEEDS OF VICTIMS & WITNESSES AT ITS HEART
We will improve victim satisfaction with the Police and victim and witness satisfaction with the Criminal Justice System.
4. TO CREATE MORE SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT PROCESSES WITHIN THE CJS
We will improve the efficiency of the Criminal Justice System by streamlining criminal justice processes.
