Justice Awards 2008
There's a huge amount of good practice going on in the Criminal Justice System - nominations for the 2008 Justice Awards open today for staff and volunteers working in the criminal justice agencies and partnerships in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.
The Justice Awards aims to reward those who 'go the extra mile' in their work with victims, witnesses, defendants or offenders. They are designed to value and recognise the good work of colleagues and teams - exceptional work should be rewarded.
An award could not only benefit the individual but also the team and organisation. Previous winners have described winning an award as “a life-changing experience”, and that it “has really put our project on the map”.
There are 15 categories this year for both individual and team nominations:
Individual Awards
- Outstanding achievement in caring for victims
- Outstanding achievement in caring for witnesses
- Outstanding achievement in tackling youth crime (young people under age 18)
- Outstanding contribution to working with offenders
- Outstanding contribution to engaging with communities
- Outstanding commitment to diversity
- Long service award for continued commitment and dedication
- Volunteer of the year award
Team Awards
- Outstanding achievement in caring for victims
- Outstanding achievement in caring for witnesses
- Outstanding achievement in tackling youth crime (young people under age 18)
- Outstanding contribution to working with offenders
- Outstanding contribution to engaging with communities
- Outstanding commitment to diversity
- Partnership of the year - best example of joint working across the CJS

Nominations must be submitted by Monday 4 August 2008 - national winners will attend the national awards ceremony in London on 21 October and local winners will go on to attend a local award ceremony in Stafford on 24 October- during 'Inside Justice Week' which will take place between 18-25 October 2008.
