Welcome to the Nottinghamshire Criminal Justice Board
Nottinghamshire Criminal Justice Board was formed by the Home Office in April 2003 and is one of 42 Boards across England and Wales. Each Board is made up of criminal justice agencies who work together in partnership to deliver justice. The Chief Officers of the local criminal justice agencies meet regularly to provide strategic direction and to monitor performance against national targets. The Board's key objectives are:
- Improving care for victims and witnesses
- Tackling persistent young offenders
- Increasing the number of offenders brought to justice
- Developing effective partnerships with local people and organisations
- Making the criminal justice system work better
- Improving public confidence in the service we provide

Jane Geraghty - Chief Probation Officer and Chair of Nottinghamshire Criminal Justice Board.
Nottinghamshire is one of 42 Probation Areas which are a law enforcement agency which supervises offenders in the community, combining with the other regions to form the National Probation Service part of the National Offenders Management Service. This includes offenders subject to a court order and those released on licence after being in prison. Nottinghamshire supervises approximately 6,000 adult offenders in the community. Judith Walker - Chief Crown Prosecutor for Nottinghamshire
The Crown Prosecution Service is the government department that prosecute criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. As the principal prosecuting authority in England and Wales, the CPS are responsible for: advising the police on cases for possible prosecution, reviewing cases submitted by the police, determining any charges in all but minor cases, preparing cases for court

Mark Swales - Area Director for Her Majesty's Courts Service
All citizens according to their differing needs are entitled to access to justice, whether as victims of crime, defendants accused of crimes, consumers in debt, children in need of care, or business people in commercial disputes. Her Majesty's Court Service aims to ensure that access is provided as quickly as possible and at the lowest cost consistent with open justice and that citizens have greater confidence in, and respect for, the system of justice. Julia Hodson - Chief Constable Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire Police fight crime, protecting people and promote law and order in Nottinghamshire 24 hours a day, every day. Covering an area of more than 800 square miles and serving a diverse population of more than one million people living in Nottinghamshire’s towns and villages. Our business is to help make Nottinghamshire a safer, better place to live, work and visit, and we do this in partnership with other organisations and local communities across the county. Alan Given - Chief Executive for Nottingham Crime and Drugs Partnership
Nottingham Crime & Drugs Partnership (CDP) aims to tackle Crime, Drugs & Anti-Social Behaviour issues in the city of Nottingham.
Nottingham CDP is comprised of a broad spectrum of agencies from the Police and Fire Service to the Local Authority and Local Strategic Partnership, and we work along with groups and individuals directly within the community.

Olwen Edwards - Chief Executive of Victim Support
Victim Support are a charity that helps those who have been victims of or witnessed crime. They do this by providing confidential support and information to victims of crime and to witnesses attending local courts. The Victim and Witness Support services is free, independent of the police and courts, and is available to everyone, whether the crime has been reported or not, and regardless of when it happened. Elaine Annable - Criminal Defence Services Manager, Legal Services Commission
The Legal Services Commission runs the legal aid scheme in England and Wales. Working in partnership with solicitors and not-for-profit organisations to get people the information, advice and legal help they need to deal with a wide range of problems. Laurence Jones - Head of Service, Nottinghamshire County Youth Offending Service
Youth Offending Service consists of staff from the Police, Social Services, Probation, Education & Health agencies. They work together to prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people. The Nottinghamshire Youth Offending Teams cover the seven Crime and Disorder Partnership areas of: Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe. Ken Beaumont - Head of Service, City of Nottingham Youth Offending Team
Nottingham City Council works closely with Nottinghamshire Police and other partner agencies to reduce youth offending in the city. Nottingham Youth Offending is recognised as one of the best in the country. The YOT consists of staff from the City Council, Police, Probation, Health and Connexions. The YOT Board aims to support and maintain our good work with Children's Services, Criminal Justice System and Community Safety agendas. Click here for more.
Tim Malynn - Corporate Director for Communities for Nottinghamshire Crime and Disorder ReductionPartnerships
Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) work to reduce crime, disorder and problem drug misuse in each district of the county. Bringing together the police, local authorities, fire service and NHS primary care trusts in a partnership with other public, private and community organisations to take local action to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
CDRPs aim to help address underlying social and environmental problems that contribute to crime and anti-social behaviour, for example, improving street lighting to make people feel safer at night or providing leisure activities to engage young people. Peter Wright - Governor, Her Majesty's Prison Nottingham
HMP Nottingham detain indviduals who have been handed custodial sentences. The Prison Services aims to reduce re-offending through education opportunities, drug treatment and rehabilition courses. Steve Gelsthorpe - Defence Representative
Steve Gelsthorpe is the Board Representative for th Criminal Defence community. In representing Defence firms he aims to make sure that issues from within the Criminal Justice System are taken directly to those representing defendants, and also that any issues arising from criminal defence proceedings are taken to a forum at the highest level.
Allan Breeton - Director, Nottingham City Neighbourhood Crime and Justice Co-ordinator
As Nottingham City Neighbourhood Crime and Justice Coordinator Allan Breeton aims to improve the way in which crime is tackled, and increase public confidence in the Justice System. Justice Seen, Justice Done is the flagship program from the Home Office Neighbourhood Crime and Justice campaign. Allan work with agencies such as the Police and Probation Service to ensure local priorities are tackled with tough visible consequences.
