Wellingborough Prison recently hosted an open afternoon event for local community members. 12 representatives from community groups, local councils and organisations attended and were given a tour of the workshop facilities and the new education block. The afternoon ended with a questions and answer session that saw two serving prisoners answering queries alongside senior management staff. The event was very well received by all those who attended and plans are now afoot for the prison to undertake more community engagement activities.
Community Diversity Day, 24 March

Groups from across the county came together on 24 March to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with a day to celebrate the differing cultures within Northamptonshire. Indian Bollywood Dancing, live poetry readings, Belly Dancing and Sikh drumming were all on display to local people at the Weston Favell Shopping Centre.

Open Board Meeting, 20 December 2006
10 staff from across the Criminal Justice Agencies came along to the Board's meeting in December to observe proceedings. They had the chance to watch the Chief Officers from across the Justice System debating matters of concern and challenging each other on performance.
Feedback was very good, with comments including, "good to see that the agencies make serious attempts to work together"; "dynamics between people at the meeting was very interesting to see"; and "questions asked were robust and meant to challenge".
