The Northamptonshire Local Criminal Justice Board

Set up in April 2003 the Northamptonshire Criminal Justice Board is made up of Chief Officers from every justice agency, plus those from the Legal Services Commission, Victim Support and the Fire Service.

The Board makes high level, strategic decisions on how the justice system should be developed locally.

The Board's purpose is to work together to deliver a modern criminal justice service for the people who live and work in Northamptonshire.

There are 42 Local Criminal Justice Boards in England and Wales, and these are all accountable to the National Criminal Justice Board.

Bill McHughBill McHugh, Chairman of the Northamptonshire Criminal Justice Board and Chief Probation Officer

Bill has been working in the Probation Service since 1992 and has recently moved to hold the Chief Officer post at Northamptonshire Probation Service.

 

 

 

 

Peter MaddisonPeter Maddison, Chief Constable, Northamptonshire Police

Peter was appointed Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police in May 2003. Before coming to Northamptonshire, he was Deputy Chief Constable of Hertfordshire Constabulary since November 2000, beginning his police career with Durham Constabulary in 1975.

 

 

 

 

Grace OnoniwuGrace Ononiwu OBE, Chief Crown Prosecutor, Northamptonshire Crown Prosecution Service

Grace joined the CPS in 1991 and worked in and around London as a Crown Prosecutor and Senior Crown Prosecutor. In 2001 Grace became the project manager for the Holborn Glidewell project that created the first co-located unit in the Metropolitan Police area, and soon after was promoted to Borough Crown Prosecutor. After working as District Crown Prosecutor and Head of the Blackfriars Trial Unit, Grace headed up the first Combined Unit in London, before making the move to Northamptonshire as Chief Crown Prosecutor. in 2008 Grace was awarded an OBE for her work.

 

 

Glynis BlissGlynis Bliss, County Director, Victim Support Northamptonshire

In her 12 years with Victim Support Glynis has been a member of the National Council for two years and a National Trustee for one year. She has sat on a number of national working groups and represented Victim Support internationally at the Kyoto Victims Conference. Glynis was recently seconded part time to the Office for Criminal Justice Reform to help develop the national strategy for Victim Support engagement with Local Criminal Justice Boards and the No Witness No Justice, and she is currently contributing to the national HMCS Consumer Strategy. In January 2005 she was awarded an MBE for her services to victims and witnesses.

 

 

Elaine AnnableElaine Annable, Criminal Defence Service Manager, Legal Services Commission

Elaine ensures that people accused of a crime have access to legal advice and representation in all police stations and courts across the East Midlands. Elaine joined the Legal Services Commission, formerly the Legal Aid Board, in 1991. She became Criminal Defence Service Manager in 2004 and is also a member of the Senior Management Team of the East Midlands Legal Services Commission, based in Nottingham. Elaine has managed duty solicitor schemes for over ten years and contracts with local legal aid suppliers from private practices since 1999. Previously, she worked in private practice and for the Probation Service at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

Richard RedgraveRichard Redgrave, Area Director, HM Courts Service

In November 2006 Richard took on responsibility for Northamptonshire, as well as Leicestershire and Rutland and Lincolnshire, as the new Area Director for HM Courts Service. Richard sees the purpose of HM Courts Service to focus on justice, reduce costs, reduce delays and increase respect throughout the court system.
