Victims & Witnesses

Victims and witnesses are at the heart of the Criminal Justice process.

Without victims and witnesses of crime coming forward we would not be able to effectively bring offenders to justice.
Therefore it is extremely important that we listen to the needs of victims and witnesses and make sure they receive a consistently high quality of service.
  • The Victims' Code of Practice sets out the minimum services victims can expect to receive from the Criminal Justice System.

  • If you are worried about what might happen if you had to report an offence, give a statment to the police or attend court to give evidence, then visit Witness Care Units and read about the help available to you.
  • If you are a witness who needs help with communication, one of our Witness Intermediaries could be brought in to help you.
