 Here is a quick 'surf' through some really useful Norfolk Criminal Justice System web resources.

Norfolk Constabulary
Norfolk Police offer a wide range of web resources. The main Constabulary website includes police news, press headlines, updates on road-works, and even the location of safety cameras. Also well worth a visit is the young people's website which offers two sites for 7 to 18 year olds. Crimereduction.gov.uk provides information and resources for people fighting crime in their local area. Information on care and treatment of victims and witnesses can be found via this link, and there is a very useful guide to operational changes and future directions in the police force here.

Crown Prosecution Service
Full details of the Crown Prosecution Service in Norfolk can be found here, and the downloadable resources include annual reports and business plans. The national CPS site is also very useful, particularly for press releases on new developments.

HM Prison Service
Full details of the two prisons in Norfolk, including facilities and visiting times, are on the web, Norwich Prison here, and Wayland here. Another very powerful resource is the interactive virtual prison tour , while the HM Prison Service home page includes careers information and news stories.

HM Courts Service
Details on all courts, how to find them, and hearing lists for the Supreme Court offices and some Crown Courts are available here. The October report by HM 2005 Inspectorate of Court Administration on the quality of services for victims and witnesses in the Norfolk Courts is also available online. The legal system page of the Department for Constitutional Affairs contains useful information including how the courts system in England and Wales is structured, and key dates in the legal year. The Criminal Cases Review Commission, which is the independent public body set up to investigate possible miscarriages of justice, can be found here while the Magistrates Association site at provides a wealth of information on the magistracy.

National Probation Service
The website of theNational Probation Service explains the working of the service, and provides links to local probation areas as well as briefings and press releases. NACRO, the crime reduction charity, works with ex- offenders, disadvantaged people and deprived communities, and can be via this link. Restorative justice is a Home Office initiative which brings victims, offenders and communities together to decide on a response to a particular crime, and encourages offenders to face up to their actions, find more information here.

Norfolk Youth Offending Team
The Youth Justice Board for England and Wales works to prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people under the age of 18, and oversees the operation of county resources including the Norfolk Youth Offending Team. Norfolk Victim Support
Full contact details for Norfolk Victim Support, the national charity which helps people affected by crime, are here, this site includes contacts for both Victim Support and the Witness Service. Norfolk Victim Support also has its own young persons web site, including a foreword by Nick Ross.

Resources for the Norfolk Criminal Justice Board The Office for Criminal Justice Reform has a national website, and there is information about the Criminal Justice Information Technology System here. There are resources on improving equality in the job market and preventing extremism together with news on faith engagement at the Home Office's Race, Cohesion and Faiths Directorate web site.
