Victim Support Norfolk Looks East - October 2006

Youth Advisory Panel in the Hot-Seat

The Youth Advisory Panel of Victim Support Norfolk were in the hot-seat in the autumn half-term break for a Media Awareness Workshop. The panel has been formed to help and support Victim Support at a local level, and members are involved in local media work. The intensive one-day workshop was run jointly by the Norfolk Criminal Justice Board and BBC Radio Norfolk's Voices project.

Topics covered including media stereotypes of young people and basic interview skills.

The afternoon sessions were held in the BBC's studios in the Forum in Norwich, and the panel members got to sit in the famous BBC TV Look East hot-seat.

Development Manager for Victim Support Norfolk, Lorna Vyse, said - "Our Youth Advisory Panels handled the sessions like real professionals, and the unanimous opinion was that the workshop was a resounding success. This is the first stage in a programme that we are now planning to roll-out to more young people".
