Serious and Violent Offending
Serious and violent offending not only impacts on those it affects directly but also on the confidence of the community. By improving the criminal justice response to tackling these offences we aim to reduce the incidences and increase the safety and security of victims, their families and the community.
Over the next three years we will be increasing our focus on tackling serious and violent offending and reducing re-offending. This will include developing a protocol for all criminal justice agencies to ensure a more effective response to serious and violent offending and will include:
-
Reducing re-offencing through developing an innovative approach to explore how early multi-agency intervention in areas where a higher concentration of returning offenders settle can make a significant difference.
-
Tackling domestic violence through expanding the specialist domestic violence court model and prioritising victim safety.
-
Enhancing the CJS response to rape cases by continuing to monitor CJS activity and performance and make improvements where required.
-
Improve public protection arrangements across the capital.
