Payback Review
Since 2003 the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) has provided law enforcement and partner agencies with the opportunity to recover material possessions and money from individuals convicted of criminal offences. In the first 3 years of these powers being available almost £250 million was recovered from criminals across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In Lincolnshire during 2007/8 Confiscation Orders were secured for the sum of £141,000. For 2008/9 this figure had increased to £587,000, with an amount of £343,000 actually recovered throung enforcement activity.
