The region covered by Lincolnshire Police is one of the largest force areas in England and Wales, covering some 2,284 square miles and serving 643,200 people.

Lincolnshire is one of the safest places to live in the country. From October 2008 to November 2009 Lincolnshire experienced 70 crimes per 1,000 people, which is considerably lower than the national average of 98 crimes per 1,000 people for England and Wales.

There are currently 1,199 officers in the force. These police officers are assisted by more than 142 dedicated Special Constables.

For the purposes of policing, Lincolnshire has 3 police divisions. They are:
East Division covering Skegness, Mablethorpe, Louth, Horncastle and the surrounding localities
West Division covering Lincoln, Gainsborough and Market Rasen
South Division which incorporates Grantham, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford.
These 3 divisions are further broken down into policing sectors, each run by a Sector Inspector who is responsible for addressing the needs of the local community.
