Justice Awards 08
Leicestershire's national award winners

Naomi Sharpe (16) won a top national award for her work with the Criminal Justice System, volunteering for more than a year at the Youth Zone, a local centre for young people.
Naomi said: "Amazing, really shocked. I just hope this will inspire other people to do the same. It means a lot to me because I love working with kids and it's nothing but pleasure to do. I've told my boss a million times and i'll tell her again she's not getting rid or me."
Anti-social behavior in the Ashby Road area of Leicester is down by 40 per cent (source: Charnwood Council notes June 2008). Part of that is due to Youth Zone, an activities centre for children and young people, which relies on volunteers like Naomi to run activities.
Sergeant Kevin Wright, from Loughborough police station, said: "Naomi is a shining example of a young person who is motivated and involved in their local community and wants to make a difference - a role model for local youngsters."

Coalville Police Station's PRIDE Unit also won a Justice Award for providing home alarms for elderly victims of crime.
Peter Stirland, co-ordinator for PRIDE Unit said: "Terrific. It's a reward for all the people who have taken part in 15 years of service. We are delighted to have received this in our 15th year." Volunteer Colin Birley said: "We were so amazed when they read our name out, we never thought we would get it."
