The Lancashire Criminal Justice Board, or "LCJB", consists of chief officers from all the criminal justice agencies in Lancashire - the Police, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Courts, Lancashire Youth Offending Team and the Probation and Prison Services. Victim Support and the Legal Services Commission are also members of the Board.
They are working together to improve the local delivery of justice.
The focus is on:
- Meeting the needs of victims and witnesses
- Preventing and reducing offending and anti-social behaviour
- Inspiring confidence in the Lancashire criminal justice system
- Preventing crime - particularly that which would be committed by young people
- Improving the processes by which justice is delivered - for example speeding up court processes, enforcing warrants and bringing back before the courts those in breach of their community orders
- Getting more people involved in volunteering across the local criminal justice system
By making improvements in these areas, local people will rightfully become more confident that justice is delivered in Lancashire.
Why not find out more about how you could play your part in the local delivery of justice and make a real difference in your local community?
And did you know that we give you the opportunity to ask any question of any of the people who actually run the criminal justice system locally, such as the Chief Constable or Head of Preston Prison? Why not come along to one of our public events to have your say!
