Justice Awards 2007
The national Justice Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of individuals and teams from across the criminal justice system and beyond.
In 2007, Lancashire was provide one of the largest number of nominees of any area in England and Wales.
Ten of Lancashire’s nominations made it through to the national shortlist stage and we were delighted that Lancashire Constabulary’s Pennine Division Hate Crime and Diversity Unit finished runners-up in the national justice award category for outstanding commitment to diversity.
Local Celebration
Lancashire’s nominees were celebrated at a local ceremony where they each received their certificate from guest of honour, Lord Justice Leveson.
Lord Justice Leveson, who is the Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales, said he was ‘humbled’ when he heard of the work in which had been carried out across the county. Presenting the awards, he told the nominees:
“The way to sum up the breadth of what you have done, from tackling crime to restorative justice, is quite simply that you have changed people’s lives. Your energy and enthusiasm is far above anything that could be expected of you.”
