The Justice Awards were established in 2004 by Baroness Scotland, Minister of State to recognise the thousands of people across the Criminal Justice System that do an amazing job. Every day their dedication makes a difference to people's lives and the Justice Awards recognise exeptional achievement among staff and volunteers working in criminal justice. Nominations can be made until 3rd August 2007 on line at www.cjsonline.gov.uk/justiceawards Any team or individual working in the criminal justice system can be nominated. In 2004, the Winchester Witness Service won an award for outstanding achievement for caring for victims and witnesses. There are numerous catagories; outstanding achivements in caring for witnesses and victims; contribution to tackling youth crime; working with offenders; engaging with communities and commitment to diversity.
The aim of this site is to provide a source of information and a channel of communication with the Criminal Justice System for YOU, the citizens of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
What is the Criminal Justice Board?
- It is a radical new initiative started on 1 April 2003
- It comprises the Head of each Criminal Justice Agency (see Board Members)
- It is the first time Heads of each Agency have been held collectively responsible for performance of the system as a whole
- The Board has been set tough targets by the Government and in addition has set itself tough targets
- As well as being accountable to the Government, the Board is accountable to YOU, the public, whom it serves
The result is a far more integrated system which is already starting to show major improved performance see achievements
