Safer and Stronger Together

A half day seminar looking at improving partnership working between the voluntary and community and public sectors was held in March. Delegates discussed how theycould work more effectively together in the fields of reducing re-offending; helping victims and witnesses; and improving the experience of the CJS of people from black and minority ethnic communities.

 It's Your Criminal Justice System

Staff from across the CJS attended the Board's Annual Seminar in February, to explore issues surrounding staff confidence. It was a highly interactive day leading to the development of an action plan to increase staff confidence in their own and their partner organisations.

Inside Justice Roadshows

Hundreds of people visited our criminal justice roadshows to find out more about crime and sentencing and to meet the people who work on the frontline of the criminal justice system. On Saturday 17th October we set up a stand in the Regents' Arcade in Cheltenham and on Thursday 22nd October we were in the Kings' Walk Shopping Centre in Gloucester.

During the two events, there were representatives from the Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, Magistrates, Probation Service, Gloucester Prison, and the Youth Offending Service available

Almost 600 people gave some time to complete our questionnaire. 66% of respondents wanted to know more about crime and what happens to those who have committed a crime. People were most interested in information on the types of crime in their ware, the number of crimes in their area and details of what action has been taken to stop more of these types of crime.

Some of this information is already available on the Justice Seen Justice Done website.

The winners of the prize draw were Mr Jones from Gloucester and Mr Mackey from Stroud.  Both winners received a £20 gift voucher.

Working together in Partnership

Representatives from Gloucestershire Criminal Justice Board, the County's six Crime and Disorder Partnerships, and the Gloucestershire Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership met together in October to discuss how the different partnerships could forge a closer working relationship. All the groups are responsible for making Gloucestershire a safer place and they spent the day discussing how to work more effectively together.
