Code of Practice for the Victims of Crime
Working for the victims of crime
New measures came into effect in April 2006 which give victims the right to information about the case they are involved in.
If you are a victim of crime in Gloucestershire:
- The Police will update you about your case at least every month
- You will be told when there is a major development in the case, such as an arrest or charge
- You will be told the dates of court hearings
- You will be informed of the outcome of the case
- You can talk in confidence and free of chargeg to Victim Support
- The Court Witness Service can provide information and support during and after a trial, including pre-trial familiarisation visits
- If you have been a victim of a serious sexual or violent crime the Probation Service's Victim Liaison Officer will keep in touch with you, explain what the sentence means and let you know if the offender is released
