Inside Justice & Justice Awards

One of the key objectives of Essex Criminal Justice Board is raising awareness and increasing public confidence in the criminal justice system.

This is achieved not only by improving the delivery of justice, but also by opening up the system to public scrutiny.

Each year one week is designated as 'Inside Justice Week' but opening up the justice system to demystify the process is something that we believe is important to continue throughout the year.

We do this in different ways, with publications, our website and events where we can have face-to-face meetings with members of the public such as court open days, attending local community events, putting on information displays in shopping centres and other places such as libraries.

During one such week Essex Criminal Justice Board linked up with BBC Essex Radio to expolode some of the myths by going behind the scenes.  To find out more, click 'Broadcast Coverage'.

During another Inside Justice Event, Basildon Evening Echo filmed aspects of an open day at Basildon Crown and County Combined Court. To view the coverage, click 'Videos'.
