JOINING TOGETHER FOR JUSTICE

“Criminal Justice agencies in Dyfed Powys, delivering justice for all and putting the law abiding citizen at the heart of the Criminal Justice System”

The purpose of the Criminal Justice System is to deliver justice for all by convicting and punishing the guilty and reducing re-offending. It is responsible for detecting crime and bringing offenders to justice; and carrying out the orders of the court, such as collecting fines and supervising community and custodial punishment.

There are 42 Local Criminal Justice Board (LCJBs) in England and Wales – their overall aims are:

To improve the delivery of justice by increasing the number of crimes for which an offender is brought to justice to 1.25 million

AND

To reassure the public, reducing the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour and building confidence in the Criminal Justice System without compromising fairness.

Our vision is to reform and improve the delivery of criminal justice in Dyfed Powys by creating a service which:

  • Victims & witnesses receive a consistently high standard of service from all criminal justice agencies
  • More offences are brought to justice through a more efficient justice system
  • Rigorous enforcement will revolutionise compliance with sentences and orders of the court
  • Joint working and customer service and second nature, underpinned by modern IT and performance data, and first class leadership
  • The public has confidence that the Criminal Justice System is effective and it serves all communities fairly
  • The local Criminal Justice System will be a joined up, modern and well run service, and an excellent place to work for people of all backgrounds
