The Dorset Criminal Justice Board was formally established in April 2003. It is one of 42 local boards set up across England and Wales. The membership of the Dorset Criminal Justice Board is made up of the local Chief Officers of:

  • Dorset Police
  • Crown Prosecution Service
  • Her Majesty's Courts Service
  • Dorset Probation Area
  • Her Majesty's Prison Service
  • Bournemouth & Poole and Dorset Youth Offending Teams

The purpose of the Board is to oversee effective joint working arrangements between local criminal justice agencies in Dorset, and determine how best to deliver targets.

Our current priorities are based around securing an increase in the number of offences brought to justice, caring for victims and witnesses of crime and improving public confidence in the criminal justice system.
