Events and Engagement

Community engagement aims to improve public confidence in the Criminal Justice System by strengthening links between the justice agencies, Magistrates and the communities they serve. It is founded in the principle that that a public service is most effective if the people that it serves are genuinely engaged in its activities.

The professional ballroom dancer, who won the BBC show last year with celebrity partner Holby City actor Tom Chambers, was in Princesshay yesterday stepping forward against the discrimination faced by people with mental health problems.

Ms Dallerup has joined the Time to Change campaign, which teamed up with Devon and Cornwall police and the Devon Partnership NHS Trust, to bring the event to the city in a bid to change attitudes towards mental health issues.

Asked why she had got involved with the campaign, she said: “I think dancing and being active can have a positive effect on people with all sorts of illnesses, including mental health problems." (from www.thisisexeter.co.uk) [NB: Link to external website]
