1. Increasing public trust and confidence - what has Derbyshire Criminal Justice Board achieved so far?

  • Focusing on engaging with members of staff and the community to improve people's knowledge of the criminal justice system with the aim of improving people's confidence;
  • Set up a cross agency Communications and Engagement Group to address public confidence issues;
  • Worked to get better press coverage of DCJB and the CJS;
  • Developed and maintained our website to provide members of the public and members of staff with up to date information and news;
  • Linked in with local school’s Citizenship curriculum and working to deliver the Safer School Partnerships agenda together with key organisations;
  • Participated in a number of community engagement events across the County;
  • Organised several criminal justice open days at courts across the County to allow members of the public to see behind the scenes of the criminal justice system;
  • Engaged and consulted with the County’s CRDPs and community groups to see how we can work better together;
  • Linked our confidence target with both the City and County Local Area Agreements;
  • Launched the Stop Hate Helpline to give people more confidence to report Hate Crime;
  • Working with Her Majesty's Courts Service on a joint engagement programme;
  • Working with young victims of crime, providing further support and signposting to partner agencies.
