National Justice Awards

The National Justice Awards, which have been run by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR) since 2004, were established by the Attorney General, the Rt. Hon Baroness Scotland of Asthal QC, then Minister of State for the Home Office to honour outstanding achievements by staff or teams from one of the six justice agencies. Other bodies connected to the CJS, for example, Community Safety Partnerships, can also enter the awards. Volunteers working with with victims, witnesses, defendants or offenders are also eligible
In 2008, Derbyshire received 19 nominations and the following individuals and teams made it through the first round of shortlisting:
- Ali Adams - Derbyshire Constabulary - Outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime
- Pamela Whatton - Derbyshire Probation Area - Outstanding contribution to working with offenders
- Laina Richardson - Osmaston-on-Track (Derby City Youth Offending Service) - Outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime
- Chris Parry - Derbyshire Probation Area - Long service award for continued commitment and dedication
- South Derbyshire Community Integration Team - Derbyshire Youth Offending Service - Outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime
- Parminder Pabla - Derbyshire Constabulary - Outstanding commitment to diversity
- Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Team - Derbyshire Constabulary - Outstanding contribution to tackling youth crime
On Friday 24 October 2008, a Local Justice Awards Ceremony was held at County Hall in Matlock, which recognised all 19 individuals and teams that had received a nomination.
