Derbyshire Probation Area
The National Probation Service (NPS) in Derbyshire is one of 42 across England and Wales which deals with offenders from their first court appearance through to the completion of their sentence.
Derbyshire Probation Area work in the four magistrates' Courts, the Crown Court, both HMP Foston Hall and HMP Sudbury and in the community. There is also an approved probation and bail hostel.
Its aim is to:
- Protect the public
- Ensure proper punishment of offenders in the community
- Reduce reoffending
- Ensure offenders are aware of the effects of crime on victims and the public
- Rehabilitate offenders
