Derbyshire Crown Prosecution Service
Derbyshire Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is one of 42 CPS Areas across England and Wales that was set up in 1986 to prosecute criminal cases investigated by the police.
In undertaking this role, the CPS:
- advise the police on cases for possible prosecution
- review cases submitted by the police for prosecution
- where the decision is to prosecute, determine the charge in all but the most minor cases
- prepare cases for court
- present those cases at court
