Volunteering in the CJS

There are many ways in which you can become involved as a volunteer within the criminal justice system.  Many of the opportunities are unique, and it is rewarding to know that you may have helped to resolve someone's problems or made decisions that have changed their life for the better.

Some of the more commonly known opportunities include working as a Magistrate and serving as a Special Constable.  But there are many others, such as: supporting victims and witnesses through the court process; becoming a prison visitor to give support and friendship to those offenders with little or no family; mentoring and giving practical help to young offenders; or sitting on a Youth Offending Panel, deciding how a young person can make amends for the crime they have committed.
