Pretty in Pink

Staff at Cambridgeshire Crown Prosecution Service are tickled pink by the success of their first ever breast cancer fundraiser.

About 50 CPS, Police and Cambridgeshire Criminal Justice Board staff at the Huntingdon-based building took part in Wear It Pink day on October 31, raising £625 for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The idea for the fundraiser came from Central Division Criminal Justice Unit head, Pat Ash, currently battling breast cancer.

Pat, pictured with Witness Care team leader Val Davey, said watching so many colleagues and friends coming together to support the Breast Cancer campaign was emotional.

“I’m so proud of them, they’ve done really well. I want to thank everybody for their participation and their support.”

Highlights of the day included a ‘cool dude’ auction, conducted by Cambridgeshire Chief Prosecutor Richard Crowley, cake stalls and a raffle.

One of the Pink Day organisers, witness care officer Sofiana Nasib, said: “Staff had to dress up in pink on the day. Some of the men put on pink nail polish. Those that didn’t had to fork out a fiver instead of the usual £2.”

One staff member raised £330 by doing a sponsored slim, shedding off 15 pounds during October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
