Top cop launches Inside Justice Week
Cambridgeshire residents should have confidence in the justice system because crime has fallen across the county, Cambridgeshire Criminal Justice Board chair and Chief Constable Julie Spence says.
Speaking at the start of Inside Justice Week, Mrs Spence said offences were being dealt with more efficiently than ever before.
Statistics released by the Home Office for 2007/08 show that, compared to 2006/07, offences of robbery, burglary, violence against a person, vehicle crime, theft, fraud and forgery and criminal damage have all fallen in the county. The total number of offences fell by 6% to 65,308 - over 4000 fewer crimes.
Inside Justice Week is a major campaign aimed at opening up the criminal justice system to the public.
It’s about explaining how the system works and giving people the chance to look behind the scenes.
This year Inside Justice Week took place from 18 to 25 October. The Cambridgeshire Criminal Justice Board put on several exciting events to mark the occasion.
