Justice film released into the community
Unlikely stars took to the red carpet to celebrate the launch of a specially-commissioned film about the Criminal Justice System in Cambridgeshire.
Police and Probation officers, Witness Services volunteers, Courts and Crown Prosecution Service staff feature in the film, produced by the Cambridgeshire Criminal Justice Board (CCJB).
Its aim is to inform the public about what's being done to tackle crime in their communities.
It shows how different agencies across the Criminal Justice System are working together to combat crime and make Cambridgeshire safer.
The film, also available in DVD format, can be viewed here.
Celebrating Justice: front, from left, Liz Barrett, Witness Services manager, Karen Sellers, Probation, Guy Torrance, court clerk. Back row: Gary Ridgway, Katie Roberts and Tony Payne, of Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Chief Crown Prosecutor Richard Crowley, Ken MacKenzie, Victim Support and Witness Services area manager, and Peter Birbeck, Witness Services volunteer.
Darren's story
The DVD also features the real life experiences of a rehabilitated ex-offender.
Darren used to be a drug addict. He committed crime to fund his habit. He's been in and out of prison four times. But now he's got a chance...
For he's one of the latest success stories from a new cross-agency approach to tackling persistent offenders in Cambridgeshire. The scheme is showing real results and making communities safer.
The film, which can be downloaded online, also tells the real life story of a local crime victim.
The film was premiered at the start of Inside Justice Week in November 2007.
It's available for community groups and other organisations to use as an educational tool.
